In the past, children's fitness was never considered an issue. Most children enjoyed playing rugged outdoor games until forced by their parents to come inside. This is no longer the case. Childhood obesity is reaching epidemic proportions, leading to such complications as juvenile diabetes and heart disease. This is caused by a number of issues, most notably a more sedentary lifestyle that is followed by all Americans. If parents are less active, the children will be as well. Another problem is the increase in popularity of indoor pursuits such as videogames and 24 hour cable and satellite cartoon channels. We now must focus on children's fitness to an extent never before necessary.

The easiest way to encourage children’s fitness is to get them to do what they do best-play outside. Parents can make a rule stating no video games or cartoons while the sun is up. They should be encouraged to ride bikes, play tag, play cops and robbers, etc. However, parents must do more than simply command their children to be active. They should set an example by becoming more active themselves. Encouraging family outdoor activities is a great way to improve the parents’ and children’s fitness at the same time.

Another excellent way to encourage children's fitness is to involve them in organized sports activities. Year round sports such as karate or gymnastics are ideal, but seasonal sports such as soccer and basketball help as well.

Children’s fitness is a topic that can no longer be ignored. Parents should encourage physical activity as well as increase their own fitness to serve as a positive example. Increasing children's fitness is the best way to halt the alarming increase in juvenile diabetes and other diseases

Children's parties, whether for birthdays or holidays, are special occasions that need to be carefully planned. Children's parties can be very boring if over planned and frightfully chaotic if under planned, so planning children’s parties is an exercise in give and take. The skillful party planner can come up with just enough activities to engage active minds and bodies, while leaving enough freedom to let kids be kids.

The most important thing to consider when planning children’s parties is the list of games to be played. Fortunately, history can be a guide here, as the old tried and true favorites are still winners. Excessively active children will enjoy a raucous game of pin the tail on the donkey or blind man’s bluff and there are several variations of musical chairs that are sure to keep the most hyperactive children mollified. Children’s parties are by their nature ruff-and-tumble affairs, and the best the host can hope for is to keep the party goers entertained and injury free.

Children's parties are usually convened for a reason (a holiday or a birthday, most likely) and, as such, serve as important learning opportunities. Thanksgiving children's parties, for example, serve as the perfect opportunity to teach young ones about gratitude. Parties that celebrate the fourth of July are perfect opportunities to insert history lessons.

Most children's parties that celebrate birthdays are themed according to the wishes of the birthday boy or girl, and are great occasions to learn more about the child of honor as well as his or her interests.

Hosting children’s parties is rarely stress free, but parties can serve as valuable learning experiences for the participants, and they are often rewarding for the host as well.

Childhood obesity is an ever increasing problem today, and it is imperative that parents and other adults lead by example by eschewing our sedentary lifestyle in favor of more active pursuits. While there has been a great deal of focus the last couple of decades on adult exercise, children have largely been ignored. For the health and well being of our children, we must teach our kids good habits and focus on exercises for children. Whereas adult exercises tend to focus more on cardio and/or weight control, exercises for children should be more holistic and fun, with the end goal being to instill a lifelong love of exercise within the child.

If left on their own, children are much more likely to engage in active play than adults. The most effective exercises for children are barely distinguishable from play. Parents should encourage their children to ride bikes, play hopscotch, play soccer, etc. Children are not as likely as adults to be willing to exercise for the sake of health; it must be presented to them as a fun pastime.

Apart from typical running and jumping games, it is sometimes appropriate to engage at risk kids in a more regimented exercise program, particularly for overweight children. It is important to keep in mind that their delicate tendons and ligaments have not yet fully formed, and exercises for children should be as low impact as possible in order to reduce long term damage.

Planning exercises for children is usually as easy as turning the kids loose in a park. For more at-risk children, exercises should be as low-impact as possible. It is up to parents and other adults to teach healthy habits and serve as positive role models.

As adults, at best we barely acknowledge our birthdays, at worst we loathe them. However, to children, their birthday is one of the most special days of the year. Beyond the presents and goodies, it represents another step for them, another milestone reached on their journey towards independence and adulthood. As such, it is very important to plan kid’s birthday parties to ensure that the special occasion is properly commemorated. Fortunately, kid’s birthday parties can be quite simple to organize and, if done carefully, quite inexpensive as well.

The most important thing to consider when planning kid’s birthday parties is the theme. The party should focus on something the child enjoys. An athletic child might enjoy a soccer or karate themed party. The bookish child might enjoy a party that focuses on dinosaurs or Harry Potter. Whereas adult parties tend to be fairly standard, themed kid’s birthday parties can be unique as the children themselves.

Once a theme has been decided upon, the next thing to consider when planning kid’s birthday parties is the setting. Regardless of theme, if the child has a birthday in the warmer months of the year, a park with a playground is ideal. The children can play before and after the food, gifts, and cake. It is advisable to choose an area with a covered pavilion in case of bad weather. Many parks require these pavilions to be booked in advance, so it’s a good idea to contact the local parks authority before planning outdoor kid’s birthday parties.

When planning kid’s birthday parties, it is important to focus on the wishes of the birthday child. Themed birthday parties are ideal for this and can be held almost anywhere.

Obesity is becoming a big problem that is spreading across America. Obesity in school children has tripled in the last twenty years. The numbers are astounding; one in five children is overweight. No child is immune to this problem of obesity. It does not matter what race, gender or age you are.

Children who are obese are more susceptible to getting sick and having health problems. More and more obese children are getting type two diabetes as well as high cholesterol and blood pressure which can lead to heart disease. Another common problem for children who are obese is sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea can lead to serious problems such as loss of memory and learning difficulties.

While there are many factors that lead to childhood obesity, there are two main factors that lead the way. The first is lack of exercise. Parents have to be responsible for their kid's lack of exercise. All you have to do is get out with your kid for a little while everyday and do something fun.

The second factor that leads to childhood obesity is poor eating habits. Again, as a parent you have to monitor what foods your kid is eating. Eating fast food and junk food all the time is an easy way to pile on the pounds. Being a good parent means keeping healthy snacks in your home including juice bars, fruit, and the like. Also, make sure your kids are eating vegetables every night at supper.

Preventing childhood obesity has to start with the parents and it has to start early in a child's life.

You can never underestimate the importance of children's fitness. In the same way that it is important for adults to exercise, children exercising is just as vital. Research shows that physical activity can increase your chances of having a healthy life. A child who routinely exercises can have the joy of not only being physically healthly but also mentally and emotionally happy.

Children's fitness can greatly decrease the chances of certain diseases and illnesses. It builds up their immune system and endurance. This is needed to help fight off certain viruses. Not only this, but childrens fitness can boost self esteem and raise a sense of self worth. There is a little known fact about childrens fitness, it is also proven to help enhance academic achievement. Because exercising promotes mental health, it increases the ability to learn. A child's grades could even increase by twenty percent.

Even though people know the importance of children's fitness, they still often do not heed the admonition to exercise. The Surgeon General has noted that half of the United States children do not participate in some type of vigorous children's fitness routine. So many children
are into the latest electronic gadgets and video games that it crowds out the time for exercise. This is a sad reality and more and more children are developing Type II diabetes, heart problems and obesity.

If you're worried that your children are not getting enough exercise, take the first step in encouraging them. Begin working out together as a family. You may also enroll your child into a children's fitness center.

A kid's birthday party is a time for friends to gather to celebrate the birthday of a special friend, and kids anticipate their birthday party celebration all year long.

A kid's birthday party is also a time for excitement and fun, and parents can make their it even more fun and exciting by hosting a one-of-a-kind celebration.

The most memorable parties for kids are ones that include unique activities, food, and exciting games. The best way to make your kid's birthday party ove to remember is by planning the birthday party around your kid's unique interests.

If your child is interested in a particular theme, like Spongebob or another popular character, then chances are your childs friends will also be interested in that theme. If they like a particular cartoon character or action hero, then plan the birthday party with that special character in mind. Create fun birthday party games and lots of birthday party activities based on that special character.

Birthday party foods and drinks can also be planned around special interests. For instance, if your kid likes a particular sporting event, design a birthday cake to match that activity, and serve the birthday cake with sports drinks.

If your kid is interested in a particular super hero or a popular movie character, there are probably birthday cake decorations to match that character. If special cake decorations can't be located, consider decorating your kid's birthday cake with washable plastic action figures. The washable plastic figures will not only serve as unique birthday cake decorations, they are toys that will remind your child of their special day.

When trying to prevent your child from obesity there is no magic pill or bullet for weight loss. The best approach at avoiding teenage obesity is encouraging your children to change their general lifestyle, encourage them to be more physically active and make it easy for them to eat healthier.

Encouraging your kids to make changes to their lifestyle starts by suggesting less television and video games. Not only will they burn fewer calories but also, they might not get their need for playing sports if they sit inside all day. Playing video games could potentially be worse since they are addictive.

This kind of goes with the first suggestion but in order for your kids to not watch television maybe as a parent you should watch less television. It is imperative that you show less interest in the television and more attention to your kids and their activities. Encourage your kids to read or paint and allow yourself more time to do activities with your kids.

Encourage your kids to do more activities by showing your kids how active you are. Get out and interact with your kids by playing touch football or basketball. The family as a whole can go bicycling out in the neighborhood. Give your kids options on activities or sports they can play.

You as a parent will never be able to force your kids to eat right. A parent has to be subtle with it and never tell your kid he or she is fat. Telling them they are fat will only make the situation worse. Preventing teenage obesity is a tough job but needs to be done. With a few of these suggestions it could make it a little easier.
