With research showing that childhood obesity is on the increase and children themselves are ever more unwilling to leave their computer games or their favorite seat in front of the television, many parents find themselves in despair. If you can identify with this situation, you'll know that it's not due to poor parenting or lack of effort that your kids are putting on weight - it's simply impossible to get them to take an interest in more active pursuits. They may prefer to be indoors and dislike the team games which you played as a child. Fortunately, this modern problem has a modern solution - the children's gymnasium.

Though they may be reluctant the first time you take them along, your children will find that a well-constructed children's gymnasium offers all the play opportunities they've secretly been longing for. A good children's gymnasium provides opportunities for playing alone or with other kids, according to your child's preference. There's lots to do, so there's no need for an unsociable child to find themselves sidelined and bored. Children who have difficulty making friends at school may find it easier when there are fun activities to participate in which they can join and drop out of at will.

A well designed children's gymnasium lets children use their imagination. This less formal play structure often appeals to children who find school sports off-putting. There's no need to apply discipline and set goals the way you might in an adult fitness class - just let them explore the children's gymnasium at their own pace. If they're not sure what to do, you can suggest games or set challenges such as obstacle races or that old favorite, getting around the room without touching the floor. There are lots of different ways to approach using a children's gymnasium, so it's really up to the child to decide.
