Planning a kid's birthday party? Kid's birthday parties can be a blessing or a curse. The success of kid's birthday parties depends on the planning.

If you wait until a week or two before a kid's birthday party to begin the planning you will likely fall into the "curse" area of birthday party planning. You simply can not wait that long if you want to have a party that is well-planned and enjoyable.

Begin planning kid's birthday parties at least 6 weeks before the event. Figure out who your child wants to invite to the party and pare the list down if it seems out of control. The rule of thumb is the child should invite the same number of children to the party as he is old. So, if your child is going to be 6 years old, the perfect number of party guests would be six. The only thing I would suggest is if you plan to play games and will need teams that you plan for an even number of children.

The next step is to make or buy the kid's birthday party invitations. You will want the invitations to list the date, time and place of the party. If you have any other pertinent information, you can add that as well. An RSVP is good if you want to know how many guests to plan for.

Shop for party favors and decorations and plan games. You will also need to decide on the food you will serve.

Short on time? Plan your kids birthday party at a children's gym. Children love kid's birthday parties at the gym and they are easy to plan. This is also a great alternative if you have waited a little too long to plan the party!
