* Find a My Gym for kids near your home now!
Thursday, August 10, 2006
It's summer and the kids seem to be spending an awful lot of time sprawled in front of the T.V. with a sack of chips in one hand and a soda in the other. You are noticing far less children's activities that involve exercise of any kind.
Let's change that! Find some things that the kids enjoy and get them up and moving. Your children will feel better and enjoy themselves at the same time.
If you are home with the children during the summer you can involve them in indoor and outdoor activities. Let them help you with the dusting and vacuuming inside. You can also have them assist with gardening, cleaning up the yard and other things like washing the windows or the car. Make these children's activities fun and when you are done you can share a treat together or have a water fight or throw a few water balloons.
Instead of sitting around the house, pack a picnic and go to the park. Find a place that has a bike path or walking trails and let the kids take a friend or two along for the fun.
Let the kids plan a game day in your backyard. There are all kinds of children's activities that can be fun and will keep the kids active. Croquet or badminton are ideas you can use or the kids may want to set up an obstacle course or plan a bike rodeo.
Another way to encourage children's activities this summer that involve exercise is to check out a local children's gym. There may be some exciting classes that will be just right for your kids.
