When trying to prevent your child from obesity there is no magic pill or bullet for weight loss. The best approach at avoiding teenage obesity is encouraging your children to change their general lifestyle, encourage them to be more physically active and make it easy for them to eat healthier.

Encouraging your kids to make changes to their lifestyle starts by suggesting less television and video games. Not only will they burn fewer calories but also, they might not get their need for playing sports if they sit inside all day. Playing video games could potentially be worse since they are addictive.

This kind of goes with the first suggestion but in order for your kids to not watch television maybe as a parent you should watch less television. It is imperative that you show less interest in the television and more attention to your kids and their activities. Encourage your kids to read or paint and allow yourself more time to do activities with your kids.

Encourage your kids to do more activities by showing your kids how active you are. Get out and interact with your kids by playing touch football or basketball. The family as a whole can go bicycling out in the neighborhood. Give your kids options on activities or sports they can play.

You as a parent will never be able to force your kids to eat right. A parent has to be subtle with it and never tell your kid he or she is fat. Telling them they are fat will only make the situation worse. Preventing teenage obesity is a tough job but needs to be done. With a few of these suggestions it could make it a little easier.
