Thanks to all the McDonalds and Burger Kings in the world, American kids today are getting fat. Kids are as big today as they ever have been. If you walk down the street do not be surprised if you see a 250-pound kid sitting on his or her porch.

Kids are made being made fun of in school because of their weight and it is not pleasant for them. Here are some ideas for getting overweight kids to exercise not only to lose weight but to be healthier in general.

One idea is to make exercise fun. Make sure your kid likes to do the exercise or game you have suggested. Always remember, no one likes to do something they do not care for. It makes them failures and they will quit on you.

The best thing to do is to ask your children what they would like to do. If they cannot come up with something you will need to decide but make sure it is something simple like bike riding.
Another idea would be to get involved in the exercises with your kids.

The more people in the family who get involved the more fun it will be for the overweight child. The idea is to make it look fun and that everyone is enjoying the exercise. If you make it look like a chore your overweight child will think the same thing and not want to exercise.

Another idea is to play outdoor or schoolyard games right along with the kids. Fun games with loads of exercise in it are capture the flag, tag, or touch football. Any time spent outdoors is beneficial to your child.

To make it interesting, you could invite the entire family over to play or his or her school friends, and serve healthy snacks and drinks. Most everyone likes a little party and that could be a great idea to get everyone in shape, out out from under their game controllers and remote controls.
