The health of your child is important and you may need to pay a little extra attention during the holiday season. Children's fitness and health can work together for the good of your child. Children's fitness issues need not be ignored during the holiday season nor should they be. There are several things you can do to make sure that children's fitness programs and schedules are not ignored during this busy time.

Allow time every day or two for children's fitness. Take a walk together and make sure the kids get outside for a little while as often as possible. Even if it's a little chilly the kids can still walk the dog or ride bikes.

Watch what your family is eating during the holidays. You may be tempted to overeat or rely more often on fast food meals.

Plan gifts for the holiday season that encourage good children's health and fitness. New bikes, ice skates, skis, snowboards and sleds make excellent gifts. They also encourage children's fitness.

Consider holiday gifts that will help the family to exercise and work out together. Call around and find out which gyms have family memberships. Sign the whole family up for skating lessons or a bowling team.

Even if you have a young child you can give a gift that will focus on children's fitness. There are Mommy and Me classes that are perfect for a new mom and baby. Look for bike carriers and seats that are made for babies and toddlers. Choosing a gift like this will keep everyone healthy and fit.

The holiday season is a wonderful time to think about children's fitness and health.
